What were some of the highlights for Intelsius in 2024?

2024 was a successful year for Intelsius. In terms of product launches, we launched our GreenTherm solution, which is a product designed with the net zero goals of our customers in mind. GreenTherm is a fully compostable plant-based system aimed at replacing the plastic-based insulated system, which helps customers use more sustainable solutions to ship temperature-controlled products.

We also launched the ORCA Pallet, which brings phase change materials and high-performance insulation systems into a pallet-sized system.

In terms of expansion, we signed on three new distributors in Japan, Turkey and Vietnam, respectively, serving the pharmaceutical distribution, pharmaceutical exports and clinical trial sectors.

Were there any internal highlights for the company in 2024?

As a company, we’ve had a busy year of charity and team-building events. In July 2024, we entered the York Dragon Boat Race and successfully raised over £2,000 for two fantastic charities. We managed to secure 21st place out of 36 teams who competed in the race. In July, we also sent two of our employees on the first ever ORCA Sea Safari. We have been longstanding contributors to the ORCA marine conservation charity, but this year we decided to get more involved in the efforts by sending Product Design Engineer Tess Bell and Business Development Manager Debbie Hewitt to spot some whales in the Bay of Biscay. Finally, in October 2024, we continued the Intelsius Camino Relay by sending Product Development Team Lead Christiane Walker and Production Manager Gillian Paterson on a 114-km trek across a portion of the Camino trail from Fromista to Leon in Spain. You can read more about their experience here.

Is Intelsius planning to expand operations in 2025?

In 2025, we are planning to incorporate Intelsius Mexico to offer products and services to the Mexican, Central and South American markets. We will also incorporate Intelsius Korea in South Korea. Besides setting up these new entities, we will be setting up fulfilment centres for our products in Paris, France and Milan, Italy, serving customers with our ORCA Rental and BioTherm and GreenTherm ranges. Our German office is also moving to larger premises to accommodate customer demand for the German and European regions.

Are there any product launches in 2025?

Yes, we have new products launching this year and into 2026. We have a range of new additions which will complement our existing systems and an entirely new product line. We will be releasing further information on these products as the months progress, so keep a look out for our LinkedIn profile and website.

Are we on target to reach our net zero goals?

Yes, we are on target to reach our net zero goals in 2030. We are in the process of hiring a sustainability consultant in our York office who will create, drive and operationalise our sustainability plans. This individual will work closely with senior management and our Quality team to drive the adoption of these plans first in our UK office and eventually to the rest of the Intelsius global sites.

We also have sustainable product ranges like GreenTherm, ORCA Rental and ORCA Multi-Use all of which support the circular economy and sustainable use of materials. We have also ensured our physical sites and infrastructure are green; we have LED lighting installed in all our Intelsius offices as well as solar panels, both of which contribute to a carbon reduction of almost 35 tonnes per year.

As we progress into 2025 and beyond, sustainability has become a key part of our approach towards our business. Every decision we make as a business, from electricity usage to the type of materials we source for our solutions, is influenced by how we can make the least negative impact on the environment possible.

We have conducted a carbon analysis of our business and have worked with Climate Partner to create a carbon reduction plan, which can be accessed here.
