Camino WR

The Intelsius Camino relay offers Intelsius employees a chance to hike a section of the Camino de Santiago, a 780km pilgrimage network that winds through Northern Spain. The trek is sponsored with each employee raising money for an important cause; the figure raised is then matched by Intelsius and donated to the corporate charity ORCA.

In July last year, two Intelsius employees, Abi and Fiona, completed the first section of the Camino, walking 113km from Saint Jean Pied de Port to the town of Estella. The second stage of the Camino begins on the 8th of September, with a further two Intelsius employees continuing the trail towards the Cathedral Santiago de Compostela. Beginning where the previous pair of employees ended, Jayne and Patrycja will trek West walking through various Spanish towns, including the city of Logrono, known for its expansive selection of tapas and the quality of the locally produced Rioja wine. After six days and a total distance walked of 120km, Jayne and Patrycja will enter the town of Belorado, and their Camino adventure will come to an end. For Intelsius, though, the Camino will continue, as two further employees will be chosen to take on the next 120km of the trek in the summer of 2020.

Both Jayne and Patrycja are raising money for some fantastic causes. Jayne is walking for The Cystic Fibrosis Trust and Jessops Neo-Natal Clinic. Meanwhile, Patrycja is walking for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens. The donations of both employees will be matched by Intelsius up to a value of £1000, with this sponsorship going to the corporate charity ORCA, a charity responsible for the protection of whales and dolphins in the UK and European waters. The first sponsored section of the Camino relay raised over two thousand pounds for charitable causes, and everyone at Intelsius hopes the second year of this initiative proves just as successful.

Steve Jones, ORCA’s Head of Partnerships, said: “The entire ORCA team are incredibly honored that Intelsius have chosen to support our conservation work, and we want to thank everyone involved for making this contribution. This donation will play a big role in our mission to help protect whales and dolphins right on our doorstep, and we know that, with Intelsius’ generous support, we can do even more to keep our oceans safe for future generations.”
